In Top-Drop Duos we showcase some of the lesser-seen bottles on our list, some of the rarities we rarely showcase in tastings and some of our most prized cuvées.

Duo one is all about the subtle and delicate touches that often define the wines we love best.

Featured here (left to right):

(Burgenland, Austria) Joiseph - Welschriesling 2018

A lesson in delicacy. This Welschriesling was vinified with two weeks of skin contact but in 'infusion' style, meaning the skins are not punched down and no proper extraction is done. The result is a slightly cloudy wine with very mild 'orangeness,' an astounding softness and smooth texture. It spent one year in old barrels and has been in bottle now for over a year. A perfect balance of fruit and minerality. Joiseph is a collaboration between three friends that started with the 2015 vintage and has grown from a tiny hectare to nearly five hectares. The wines across the range are distinct, wildly exciting, and full of energy.

(Loire, France) Clos des Plantes - Pelo 2018

Tiny production of this gorgeous and elegant Cabernet Franc from the 'black schist' soils of Anjou in the Loire. Lightly extracted, wild and vibrant red fruits, and the savoury edge that is often found in Loire Cabernet. Drinking beautifully now but with a long life ahead. Made by Olivier Lejeune, a Lille native who lived and worked all over the world before finally settling in the Loire and coming across some prized parcels in the Montbenault region of Anjou. In the space of two short years he has already established himself as one of the most sought-after young producers in the region, and deservedly so.
