(Penedes, Spain) Entre Vinyes - Oníric Rosat 2019
An absolute pleasure to drink, this pale rosé made from Trepat and Grenache is a total all-rounder. Zesty aromatic, touch of texture, but overall fresh, uncomplicated, and suitable for all occasions. Made by Maria & Pep, a couple who started from scratch in 2012 after taking over some old vineyards, and have slowly built this project into the successful and experimental winery it is today.
(Tuscany, Italy) Fattoria di Sammontana - Primo Fuoco Rosato 2019
A wonderful, complex rosé made from the Merlot grape. The grapes are pressed as soon as they arrive at the winery, and the juice is transferred to a clay amphora where it ferments and then ages for 8 months. The result is a wonderfully tense and mineral, almost salty rosé. Initially shy on the nose, it then opens up into a proper elegant rosé. It also has a pretty incredible bright and deep pink colour! Made by Daniele & Dario, the fourth generation at this biodynamic Tuscan estate. Within the range they make a balanced mix of traditional Sangioveses along with experimental wines vinified in clay amphoras (see the orange wine section).
(Empordà, Spain) Sota Els Angels - Flow Pink 2018
Lovely depth of fruit in this elegant wine made from Grenache and Carignan. Exciting and vibrant but not unfamiliar, this is a serious rosé for true rosé lovers with a solid mineral backbone. Sota Els Angels is a small biodynamic winery in Spain's Northeast run by Maria & Guy, a couple firmly rooted in respectful farming and making wines of pleasure and drinkability.
